1. Introduction
eKalvi is a TNPSC exam preparation app built for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission aspirants. Study subject-wise, practise with timed mock tests, and track performance with detailed analytics. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
All study data is stored exclusively on your device using local storage (Hive database) and is never automatically uploaded to any server.
Test Results & Performance:
• Test scores, correct/wrong/skipped counts
• Accuracy percentages and time taken per test
• Subject-wise performance breakdown
• Completion timestamps
Question Reports:
• Reports you submit about incorrect or missing content
• Report type and optional note
• Stored locally and may be synced to improve content quality — no personal data is attached.
3. Content Delivery (Firebase Firestore)
eKalvi uses Firebase Firestore (Google) to deliver updated question content, exam configurations, and version metadata to your device. When the app syncs:
• Only version numbers and question data are fetched.
• No personal or user-identifiable data is sent to Firestore.
• Sync is triggered on app launch and on pull-to-refresh.
Firebase may collect anonymised telemetry in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
4. Automatically Collected Data
The App integrates third-party services that may automatically collect certain data:
• Firebase Analytics (Google) — collects anonymised usage statistics such as app opens and screen views.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — collects crash reports, error logs, and device diagnostics to help identify and fix bugs.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — collects a device token to deliver optional push notifications for app updates and announcements.
• Google AdMob — displays banner advertisements. AdMob may collect the Google Advertising ID, device identifiers, and ad interaction data for ad personalisation and measurement, in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
5. Device Permissions
The App requests the following permissions:
• Internet — required for Firebase services, content sync, and ads.
• Notifications (Android 13+) — used to receive push notifications via FCM for exam updates and study tips.
6. How We Use Your Information
Your local study data is used solely within the App to:
• Display your performance history and analytics dashboard.
• Identify strong and weak topics for personalised tips.
• Show recent test results on the dashboard.
This data remains on your device at all times and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly share it.
Anonymised analytics and crash data are used solely to understand app performance and improve the user experience.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Data may only be shared with:
• Google (Firebase / AdMob) — as described in Sections 3 and 4.
• Law enforcement — only if required by applicable law.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
All data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App permanently removes all locally stored test results, performance analytics, and question reports.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained per Google's standard retention policy. Anonymised data cannot be attributed to individual users.
9. Children's Privacy
eKalvi is intended for TNPSC exam aspirants aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the integrity of data delivered through Firebase. All data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security mechanisms.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the App and on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please reach us via the "Report an Issue" option in the App's Settings screen.
